In recent years, Stone Marine Singapore has specialised in the design and manufacture of high performance propellers for military and civilian applications where maximum speed with minimum noise and vibration have been demanded by the customers. These sometimes conflicting requirements, have required the development of sophisticated propeller designs and adherence to demanding manufacturing tolerances and quality.

The propeller designs are skewed and raked to maximize the clearances from the hull, skeg and rudder. The radial pitch distribution is custom designed to minimize cavitation at the root and tip of the blade, and to reduce the pressure pulses on the hull, which can be a source of unpleasant vibration. Special section shapes are used to help with the reduction in cavitation and to increase propeller efficiency.

To complement the high sophistication of design, state of the art manufacture is used to ensure correct adherence to the design with great emphasis on quality control and inspection procedures. Custom propellers are generally made to ISO Class S or Class 1 tolerances and are dynamically balanced to ensure smooth running.

All Propellers are manufactured to the most exacting international standards and Classification Society requirements.

Alloys Used

NIKALIUM and SUPERSTON are high strength alloys developed by the Company’s metallurgists specifically for propellers and are recommended for cases where the propellers require maximum strength and corrosion resistance. HIGH TENSILE MANGANESE BRONZE alloy to our own specification is available for less demanding applications. The Company can also supply STAINLESS STEEL propellers in several grades, depending on the customer’s requirements.
